Postdoctoral Fellows

Dr. Iqra Munir

Iqra has completed Ph.D. in Protein Chemistry at  H.E.J Research Institute of Chemistry. She has joined Yesiloz Lab to design micro-nanofluidic devices for drug delivery and drug screening. She is also interested in protein-drug nanoconjugates and green nanoparticle synthesis approach as well as their cytotoxic analysis on non-small lung carcinoma.

Graduate Students

Ph.D.

Faruk Aksoy

Faruk is a graduate of Yeditepe University with a double major degree in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

He will be working on BioMEMS, Micro and Nanostructured Sensors and Biosensing applications as well as Micro/Nanofluidic devices. He aims to utilize the skills and knowledge he has gained from his previous studies and apply it at the micro-scale level and go further with nanotechnology.

In his leisure time, he likes to play football, listen to music and go for a walk in the woods.

Servin Bagheralmoosavi

Servin completed her bachelor’s studies in Medical Laboratory Sciences at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, İran.

She continued her studies with a master’s degree in Medical Immunology at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and another master’s in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Bilkent University.

She now pursues her PhD studies at Bilkent University, Yeşilöz Research Group. She is interested in modeling cancer in microfluidic organ-on-chip systems to analyze tumor cell responses to anti-cancer therapies.

Besides academia, she likes reading books, swimming, and watching movies.

Faiqa Nazir

Faiqa is a PhD student in Material Sciences and Nanotechnology program. She has a pharmaceutical background with a bachelor’s in Pharm.D from Quaid-I-Azam University, Pakistan, and MSc. at UNAM-Bilkent University.

She is interested in organ-on-chip, spheroid cell culture modeling, nanomedicine, and targeted drug delivery systems. She is hoping to integrate her background knowledge in an interdisciplinary manner to work for novel combinations of drug-nanoconjugates, highlighting the mode of action and bioavailability of the utilized drugs both in 2D/3D cell culture and/or animal models.

Fayiti Fuerkaiti

Fayiti Fuerkaiti is a Ph.D. student in Dr. Gürkan Yeşilöz’s lab at Bilkent University UNAM. He holds a B.Eng. in Bioengineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China and an M.Sc. in Bioengineering from Hacettepe University, Türkiye. His research background spans molecular biology, tissue engineering, and expertise in phage display, scFv/CAR-T engineering, protein expression and purification, and He is particularly interested in applying microfluidics, BioMEMS, and organ-on-chip platforms to accelerate therapeutic discovery, drug screening, and immune–tumor interaction studies.

Ali Vardin

Ali got his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tabriz. He completed his M.Sc. program as a mechanical engineer at Middle East Technical University, and his thesis was about the numerical and computational modeling of two-phase flows at the condenser region in micro-grooved heat pipes.

He joined Yeşilöz Research Group to pursue his research on the areas including droplet-based microfluidics, multiphase flows, and their applications in bioengineering. Moreover, he aims to gain experience in experimental skills.

Apart from academia, he likes fitness, playing football, and volleyball. Also, he enjoys listening to music and watching movies.

Master’s

Lionel Thabo Ndlovu

Lionel is a Master’s student with a background in Bioengineering from Abdullah Gül University. He will be exploring the use of microfluidics for disease modeling and tissue engineering. He previously worked on nanobiophotonics, gaining experience at the interface of material science and biomedical applications. Outside the lab, Lionel enjoys playing tennis and football, and often spends his free time reading about economic history.

Ecem Erdoğan

Ecem has graduated from Middle East Technical University, Molecular Biology and Genetics department. She has joined Yeşilöz Research Group as a Master’s student to pursue her studies in microfluidic systems and on-

chip applications.

She is interested in modelling neurodegenerative diseases on-chip to study the pathophysiological changes.

Apart from academia, she likes to stay active, participate in volunteering activities and spend time with her cat.

Undergraduate Students

Seray Erdoğan

Seray is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at TOBB ETU and completing her long-term internship at the Yeşilöz Research Group. Seray, who enjoys working in multidisciplinary fields, aims to adapt her previously acquired knowledge in signal processing and artificial intelligence to microfluidics. In addition, she seeks to improve her experimental skills and gain experience in the fields of organ-on-a-chip and drug delivery.

Hasan Berk Küçük

Hasan Berk is a Biomedical Engineering student at TOBB Economy and Technology University and currently is a long-term intern at Yeşilöz Research Group. He aims to gain experience about microfluidics and nanomedicine. Apart from academia, he loves traveling and playing tennis.  

İrem Gülsoy

İrem is third-year Molecular Biology and Genetic student at İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University and is currently an intern at Yeşilöz Research Group.

She aims to gain experience with 3D micro-tissues and microfluidic platforms.

Despite academia, she is interested in reading novels and watching series.

Mervenur Örcün

Mervenur graduated from Ankara University Biomedical Engineering department and continues the double major program of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Currently She is an intern at Yeşilöz Research Group. After graduation, She aim to focus on electronic circuit and board design and their software integrations.

Apart from the academia, She likes travelling,taking pictures, swimming and gardening.

Eren Güney

Eren is a Mechanical Engineering student at Middle East Technical University and currently is an intern at Yeşilöz Research Group.

Besides his studies, he enjoys playing tennis and billiards, and he is also a member of the ODTÜ-TEK student team, which is focused on creating a hydrogen-powered car.
